Meet Dr. Singer, DNP

  • Roxanne Singer-Gheorghiu, DNP

    Dr. Singer received her graduate training as a Nurse Practitioner from the prestigious Duke University. Her board certifications in Adult Gerontology Primary Care, Psychiatric Mental Health, and Certified Diabetes Education, with postdoctoral studies in advanced psychopharmacology, set her apart in the field of psychiatry.

    With decades of experience in both mental health and medicine, Dr. Singer employs a holistic, integrated approach for her patients. Her vast experience as a researcher, nurse, diabetes educator and nurse practitioner informs her understanding of human emotions and enhances her ability to diagnose, inform and treat various psychiatric and medical conditions while remaining culturally sensitive. She values the therapeutic relationship and prioritizes the best, evidence-based techniques including but not limited to talk therapy, psychopharmacology, genetic testing, metabolic risk analysis, and Heart Math™, in conjunction with individualized dietary and physical activity recommendations. 

    She has a particular interest in the psychiatric co-morbidities associated with medical issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), menopause, cancer, stroke, multiple sclerosis, migraine and fibromyalgia. 

    Dr. Singer is confident in her ability to use current evidence-based treatment, receiving post graduate training in Cognitive Behavioral Training (CBT), Trauma–Informed Cognitive Behavioral Training (TI-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Solutions Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Executive Coaching along with other proven methods to customize an approach based on your individual needs.

    She is licensed in both South Carolina, New York and Florida which provides her the opportunity to connect with healthcare professionals and patients across the eastern United States.

    With a mission to make quality care more widely available,  her efforts were directed to the field of telepsychiatry. As a result, she has been recognized for her work in Telehealth by Blue Cross Blue Shield and has served on various committees responsible for law and healthcare policies in South Carolina. Additionally, Dr. Singer is an active researcher, having been a co-investigator on over forty clinical trials for neuro-psychiatric and metabolic disorders, you can be assured that your care is based on the most effective treatment methods available.

    My mission is to serve children, teenagers, and adults by providing experienced, compassionate, individualized psychiatric care that helps my patients achieve maximum wellbeing. My intention is to awaken the hope and belief in my patients that they can achieve improved mental health that leads to a more fulfilling life. I know how difficult it can be to acknowledge that life's challenges are too much to handle. I am continuously humbled by my patients' courage in facing their problems and asking for help. I am committed to being worthy of the trust and confidence my patients place in me.


The comforting presence of canine counselors help patients regulate their nervous systems by reducing blood pressure and cortisol production. Endorphins are also produced, reducing pain and increasing immune system function.

Emotional Support Animals, commonly referred to as therapy dogs, are not highly trained to provide specialized support or interventions but are thought to provide medically and emotionally beneficial companionship.
